Warm inside

A fire at the long table

The house is heated, and the dining room has a fireplace beside the long table: lunch that runs into the afternoon, a bottle from down the road, the fire lit as the light goes. Six bedrooms across the main house and the guest house sleep 12 adults, plus 2 babies in cots.

The saltwater pool is not heated. In winter it is a view from the terrace, and a dare for the brave. Walk through the house.

Wine country

Four wineries in ten minutes

Sencelles sits in the Binissalem DO, and four wineries are within ten minutes of the house. Winter is the calm season at the cellar doors: no queues, time to talk, and the olive harvest under way in November. Book a tasting at the finca, or read Binissalem wineries without a car.

Outside

Walks, hikes and almond blossom

Start at the door with a walk through the olive grove on the 7.5 hectare estate. The Tramuntana mountains are close for proper hiking, the roads are quiet and the cycling is at its best, and from late January to mid-February the almond trees flower across the island.

The quiet island

Mallorca without the crowds

Days are mild and bright, typically 10 to 16°C from December to February. Palma is 25 minutes away and lit up for Christmas; most restaurants, shops and markets stay open; the island belongs to the people who live here. It suits a family Christmas, a long weekend of wine and walking, or a winter offsite around one table.
