The finca
Two houses, one estate
6 bedrooms across the main house and the guest house, sleeping 12 adults plus babies in cots, with a fruit garden, young olive trees and lavender on a 7.5-hectare estate.
The main house
Built for a long table
The main house is the one you arrive at: a stone finca with plaster the colour of the afternoon, restored so that every room opens to the outside. Five bedrooms, a dining room that seats twelve, and a living room that becomes a cinema, a boardroom or a dance floor depending on the week.
The porch catches the first light; the long table keeps the last, at the long table where lunch tends to become dinner.
The guest house
A house of its own
Thirty steps from the main house, with its own kitchen, bathroom and porch. Grandparents take it for the quiet; couples take it for the privacy; a retreat leader takes it to have somewhere to think.
Bedrooms
Who sleeps where
Three bedrooms can be set up as twins or kings. Up to two baby cots, two high chairs and one rollaway adult bed on request.
Outside
Where the day goes
The saltwater pool
Ten metres, starting shallow and going deep, comfortable for small children. In sun from mid-morning until the olive trees shade it in the late afternoon.
The fruit garden
Oranges, lemons, cherries, apricots, plums, figs, pears, apples and pomegranates. Something is always ripe.
The pizza oven
Wood-fired, in the garden by the long table outdoors. Friday is pizza night; the chef uses it for the pairing dinners.
The evenings
The long table keeps the last of the light: candles, blankets, the last of the wine.
The olive trees
Young trees planted in rows, with the fruit garden beyond. Gold at seven, and a little more shade every year.
The lavender garden
In flower from April and humming until the heat quietens it.
The neighbours
Sheep in the next field, a donkey who comes to the fence, the farm cats. Children find them before the adults have unpacked.
The garden
Something is always ripe
The fruit garden runs along the south wall: oranges and lemons through the winter, cherries in May, apricots and plums in June, figs and pears in August, apples and pomegranates as the light turns in September. Guests pick what they like; the chef picks the rest.
Beyond it, the young olive trees in their rows, and the lavender garden that hums from April until the heat quietens it.

Questions people ask
How many people can sleep at La Casa de los Grandes?
12 adults across 6 bedrooms: 10 in the main house and 2 in the separate guest house. Up to 2 baby cots and 2 high chairs, plus 1 rollaway adult bed, on request. Three bedrooms can be set up as twins or kings. Pets are welcome.
Is the guest house always included?
In July, August, Christmas and New Year the guest house is always part of the booking, and the estate is yours alone. Outside those dates you can book both houses together (get in touch, as they are priced separately); otherwise the guest house may be let to other guests, in which case the pool is shared.
Is there a garden?
A fruit garden of oranges, lemons, plums, pomegranates, figs, cherries, apples and pears; the olive trees; and a lavender garden, around the houses. Guests are welcome to pick what is ripe.
Is there air conditioning and Wi-Fi?
Every bedroom and living space is air-conditioned. Wi-Fi runs at about 300 Mbps across both houses and the pool area.
Is the pool safe for children?
The saltwater pool starts shallow and deepens gradually, so small children can paddle at one end while adults swim at the other. It is not fenced, so as anywhere, young children need an adult nearby.
Do we need a car?
Yes. Sencelles is a quiet village; the nearest supermarket is 10 minutes by car, Palma 25 minutes, the airport 20. A hire car from the airport is the easiest way to arrive.
