Binissalem wineries you can reach without a car
Four wineries of the Binissalem DO (Denominació d’Origen, the island’s protected wine region) sit within ten minutes of the house, and two are a short walk from Binissalem railway station, which is a 25-minute train from Palma. Here is how to taste them without anyone driving.
The wineries
| Winery | Town | From the finca | Taste |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bodegas José L. Ferrer | Binissalem | 8 min · 5 min walk from the station | The reference Manto Negro; the Reserva |
| Celler Tianna Negre | Binissalem | 9 min | Modern reds, a serious rosé, the view |
| Bodega Ribas | Consell | 7 min | The island’s oldest family winery, since 1711; Sió |
| Vins Nadal | Binissalem | 8 min · 10 min walk from the station | Small, honest, the Albaflor range |
Without a car
- Train from Palma Intermodal to Binissalem: 25 minutes, every half hour.
- Walk to Ferrer (5 minutes) for the 11:00 tour; book ahead.
- Lunch in the village square.
- Walk to Vins Nadal for the afternoon tasting.
- Taxi back to the finca, 8 minutes.
Or stay put: the sommelier brings all four to the long table at six. The tasting at the finca.
When
Harvest is September; the Festa des Vermar grape-treading festival fills Binissalem the last two weeks of the month. Book the wineries by June if you want that.
